Relativistic corrections to astrometric shifts due to gravitational microlensing

چکیده
Gravitational microlensing has proved to be a versatile astrophysical tool. Recently, the question of whether higher order relativistic corrections can influence the observable properties of microlensing has been addressed. This letter extends earlier studies, investigating higher order relativistic terms in astrometric shifts during microlensing events, revealing that they produce no effects. The magnitude of the relativistic corrections is examined in an astrophysical context and is found to be negligible.

Astrometric Shifts in the OGLE-1 Microlensing Events
We measure the astrometric shifts of the light centroids for the microlensing events in the OGLE-1 database. Of the 15 consistently detected events, 7 had significant shifts which we were able to measure with a fair degree of confidence. Those events with large shifts are also expected to be unresolved with a background “blend”, and thus, we suggest that we have identified events in the OGLE-1 ...
متن کاملAstrometric Microlensing of Stars
Due to dramatic improvements in the precision of astrometric measurements, the observation of light centroid shifts in observed stars due to intervening massive compact objects (‘astrometric microlensing’) will become possible in the near future. Upcoming space missions, such as SIM and GAIA, will provide measurements with an accuracy of 4–60 μas depending on the magnitude of the observed stars...
متن کاملPerturbative Approach to the Astrometric Microlensing due to an Extrasolar Planet
We have developed a perturbative approach to microlensing due to an extrasolar planetary lens. In particular, we have found analytic formulae for triple images. We have used the formulae to investigate the astrometric microlensing due to the extrasolar planetary lens, in expectation of dramatic improvements in the precision of the future astrometric measurements. For a weak lensing case, we hav...

It is well-known that gravitational lensing is a powerful tool to investigate matter distributions including DM. Typical angular distances between images and typical time scales depend on gravitational lens masses. For microlensing case angular distances between images or typical astrometric shifts due to microlensing are about 10 − 10 μas. Such an angular resolution will be reached with the sp...
متن کاملUsing Astrometry to Deblend Microlensing Events
We discuss the prospect of deblending microlensing events by observing astrometric shifts of the lensed stars. Since microlensing searches are generally performed in very crowded fields, it is expected that stars will be confusion limited rather than limited by photon statistics. By performing simulations of events in crowded fields, we find that if we assume a dark lens and that the lensed sta...
